Non-native speakers of German only
This workshop (held in German) provides an introduction to German academic writing for international (non-native German) PhD candidates.
Participants will receive constructive feedback on their writing and the tools they need to improve their writing style at their own pace.
Among others, the following topics will be covered:
- Academic writing conventions in Germany
- Common pitfalls of German for scientific purposes (with special attention to style, grammar, and punctuation)
- Practical tips and resources to help you improve your writing as a non-native speaker
In preparation for the workshop, participants will be asked to either send an excerpt of their dissertation (250–300 words) or to carry out a short writing assignment and hand it in. During the workshop, they will receive individual feedback from the tutor. After the session, they will also receive a proofread version.
The instructor will take special care to cater to the participants’ needs and to incorporate their questions into the discussion.
