Publishing Papers in the Natural Sciences (GSP 2)

Publishing papers in academic journals is a demanding task that is at times rewarding and at times frustrating. As publishing is a prerequisite for a career in science, it is important to approach the topic strategically.
The objectives of this course are: (1) to understand the publication process in peer-reviewed journals, (2) to learn about ethical standards and legal regulations, and (3) to develop individual publishing strategies.

Programme
the peer review system: stakeholders and processes
criteria for journal selection (e.g. journal reputation, decision time, rejection rate)
how to write a cover letter
 what editors want
 what reviewers do
what to do in case of rejection
