Communicating science comprehensibly through visualizations
Scientific research is often difficult to comprehend for individuals outside the respective discipline and outside academia in general, particularly if it is communicated solely in technical terms. However, in times in which it becomes ever more important for scientists to exchange information across disciplinary boundaries and with the public, it is vital that they know communication tools that help non-specialist audiences to gain a better understanding of their research. Given that humans generally process and store visual information (e.g. images, sketches) more effectively than text-based information, we focus on techniques that allow you to graphically present your research topics.
This two-day seminar introduces participants to basic design principles and methods. The seminar is interactive. Teaching content alternates with practical phases as well as question and answer sessions.
