To forge a career in science, you need to publish research papers in peer-reviewed journals – not only to get credit for your research, but also so that others can learn from your work, build on it and use it. And also so that your research can make the world a better place!
But writing and publishing a paper isn’t easy, and the journal publishing system can be difficult to navigate.
This two-day course will help you write journal papers and get them published in the most effective way. You will get insider insights from an expert trainer who knows scientific journals from many angles. You will have a chance to draft your own abstract and an outline of your paper, and get individual feedback on them from an expert.
The course is for doctoral students in the natural and life sciences. It will be most suitable for you if you are in your second year onwards, you know what project you are working on, and you have some data that you can write about (even if it is preliminary).
The course will combine presentations, discussion in small and large groups, writing exercises, internet research exercises, and one-to-one feedback from the trainer on your writing.
