Podcasting is one of the fastest growing mediums for storytelling and a great way for scientist to tell the story of their work. This workshop provides an introduction to
everything you need to get started making a podcast. We discuss the various styles and formats of podcasts and some basic points on telling stories with audio. Next, we cover the type of equipment needed and options for every budget. We will also discuss and practice, recording audio, editing and putting together an episode as well as learn how to get your show onto platforms like Spotify, Stitcher or Apple Podcasts.
All participants need a microphone and ideally a webcam.
Hardware integrated into the laptop is perfectly adequate. For the practical podcast work, a microphone for recording audio clips (smartphone, small recorder or USB microphone)
and basic free audio editing software (Audacity or Garageband) are required.
